Pull-Apart Apple Cinnamon Bread

Ingredients

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Apple Filling:

  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Make the Apple Filling:
In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Layer the Bread:
Pour half of the dough into the prepared loaf pan. Then, add half of the apple filling on top. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar topping (mix granulated sugar and cinnamon together). Repeat with the remaining dough, followed by the remaining apples and cinnamon sugar.
  6. Bake the Bread:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve:
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Brush the top with melted butter if desired.
  8. Enjoy:
Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. This bread is delicious on its own or with a drizzle of icing or a dollop of whipped cream!

Tips

  • For extra flavor, you can add chopped nuts, raisins, or cranberries to the apple filling.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days.
