Garlic Steak and Potatoes Foil Packets

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb sirloin steak (or your preferred cut), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 cups baby potatoes, halved or quartered (depending on size)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for garnish (optional)
  • Aluminum foil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Your Grill or Oven:
  • If you’re using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat (about 400°F). If using an oven, preheat to 400°F.
  1. Prepare the Mixture:
  • In a large bowl, combine the steak cubes, baby potatoes, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika. Toss everything together until well-coated.
  1. Assemble the Foil Packets:
  • Cut four large pieces of aluminum foil (about 12×12 inches each).
  • Divide the steak and potato mixture evenly among the foil pieces.
  • Fold the sides of the foil over the mixture to create a packet, making sure to seal it tightly to prevent leaks.
  1. Cook:
  • For Grill: Place the foil packets directly on the grill and cook for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • For Oven: Place the packets on a baking sheet and bake for about 25-30 minutes.
  1. Check for Doneness:
  • Carefully open one packet (watch out for steam!) to check if the potatoes are tender and the steak is cooked to your liking.
  1. Serve:
  • Once cooked, remove the packets from the grill or oven. Allow them to cool for a minute before opening.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and enjoy your delicious garlic steak and potatoes!

Tips:

  • You can customize this dish by adding other veggies like bell peppers or onions.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on how well-done you like your steak. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 135°F.
  • Serve with a fresh salad or your favorite dipping sauce for a complete meal.

Enjoy your nostalgic meal! If you have any modifications or special touches from your family’s version, feel free to share!
