5-Minute Caramel Walnuts Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup walnuts (halved or chopped)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons water
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the tray: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat so the caramel doesn’t stick.
- Cook the caramel:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, and water. Stir until the butter melts and the sugar begins to dissolve.
- Continue cooking without stirring until the mixture turns a golden amber color. This should take about 3-4 minutes. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
- Add walnuts:
- Once the caramel reaches the desired color, immediately remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Carefully stir in the walnuts, making sure they are all coated with the caramel. Be cautious, as the caramel will be very hot.
- Spread and cool:
- Pour the caramel-coated walnuts onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading them out into a single layer.
- If desired, sprinkle a pinch of salt and vanilla extract over the top for added flavor.
- Allow them to cool for a few minutes until the caramel hardens.
- Serve:
- Once cooled, break apart any clusters and serve as a tasty snack, topping for desserts, or salad garnishes.
Storing:
Store any leftover caramel walnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Enjoy your deliciously quick caramel walnuts!
