Homemade Joe’s Crab Shack-Style Meal

Ingredients:

For the Crab Boil:

  • 1 lb crab legs (snow or king crab)
  • 2-3 ears of corn, cut in half
  • 1 lb small red potatoes
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 4-5 liters water
  • Salt (to taste)

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crab Boil:
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add Old Bay seasoning, garlic, onion, and salt.
  • Add potatoes and corn to the boiling water. Cook for about 10-15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  • Add the crab legs and shrimp. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and let it sit for a few minutes.
  1. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  • Stir in Old Bay seasoning, parsley, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well.
  1. Serve:
  • Strain the crab boil and arrange it on a large platter.
  • Serve with lemon wedges and the garlic butter sauce on the side for dipping.

Optional Sides:

  • Coleslaw
  • Hush puppies
