Ground Beef Pasta with Shells & Tomato Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces pasta shells
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
  • In a large pot, boil water and cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  1. Add Onion and Garlic:
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  1. Add Tomato Sauce and Seasoning:
  • Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (with juice), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
  1. Combine with Pasta:
  • Add the cooked pasta shells to the skillet and stir until well coated with the sauce.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil or parsley if desired.
