Ground Beef Pasta with Shells & Tomato Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces pasta shells
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
- In a large pot, boil water and cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add Onion and Garlic:
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add Tomato Sauce and Seasoning:
- Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (with juice), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
- Combine with Pasta:
- Add the cooked pasta shells to the skillet and stir until well coated with the sauce.
- Serve:
- Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil or parsley if desired.
