Chewy Caramel Nut Fudge Bars

Ingredients

For the Base:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts)

For the Caramel Layer:

  • 1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Base:
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract; mix well.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped nuts.
