Easy Layered Chocolate Dessert
Ingredients:
- For the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer cookies, crushed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- For the filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
- For the chocolate layer:
- 1 small package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- For the topping:
- Additional whipped topping
- Chocolate shavings or shavings (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the crust:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine the crushed chocolate wafer cookies and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then remove and let it cool completely.
- Make the cream cheese filling:
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar until smooth.
- Fold in the whipped topping until well blended.
- Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
- Prepare the chocolate pudding layer:
- In another bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened.
- Pour the pudding over the cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly.
- Add the topping:
- Spread a layer of whipped topping over the pudding layer.
- Optionally, sprinkle chocolate shavings or chips on top for a decorative touch.
- Chill:
- Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to allow the layers to set.
- Serve:
- Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy!
