Philly Cheesesteak Bake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef (such as sirloin or ribeye)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (green or red), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or a mix of provolone and mozzarella)
  • 1 package (1 lb) refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the Beef and Vegetables:
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced onion and bell pepper, cooking until soft (about 5 minutes).
  • Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, if using. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  1. Mix the Cheese Filling:
  • In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded provolone cheese. Mix until well combined. You can add a little bit of the beef mixture to this for added flavor if desired.
  1. Assemble the Bake:
  • Roll out the crescent roll dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Pinch the seams together to form one large sheet.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough.
  • Top with the cooked beef and vegetables, spreading evenly.
  1. Wrap the Bake:
  • If using crescent roll dough, fold the dough over the filling, tucking the edges in to seal it. If you’re using puff pastry, you can fold it over or create a lattice pattern.
  • Brush the top with beaten egg for a nice golden color (optional).
  1. Bake:
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  1. Serve:
  • Allow the bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, and enjoy the delicious flavors of a Philly cheesesteak!

Tips:

  • Additions: You can customize the filling with mushrooms, jalapeños, or other toppings based on your preferences.
  • Cheese Variations: Other cheeses like American or Cheddar can be used to switch up the flavor.
  • Serve with: This dish goes great with a side of chips, a salad, or some dipping sauces like ketchup or steak sauce.

This Philly Cheesesteak Bake is sure to be a hit with your family! Enjoy!
